This policy explains how Composition Limited ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit composition.agency or get in touch with us. We aim to keep this short and plain. If you have any questions about it, email hello@composition.agency.
Who we are
Composition Limited is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16558196, with its registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.
What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. The information we typically hold falls into the following categories:
- Contact information you send us - your name, email address, company, and the contents of any messages you write to us, for example when you email hello@composition.agency.
- Project information - anything you share with us about a project, brief, or budget so we can respond and, if we work together, do the work.
- Basic technical information from your visits to this website - things like which pages you viewed, your approximate location (by country/region), the device and browser you used, and the date and time you visited. This is collected through standard server logs and, where applicable, privacy-respecting analytics.
Why we use it
We use the information above to:
- Reply to your enquiries.
- Provide services to you if we end up working together.
- Issue invoices and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
- Improve the website and understand which content is actually useful.
We rely on either our legitimate interest in running a small studio, or on a contract with you, as our lawful basis under UK GDPR. Where we use cookies that are not strictly necessary, we ask for your consent first.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to work (for example, to remember your cookie preferences). Optional cookies - typically used for anonymised analytics - are only set if you give consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clearing cookies in your browser.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the studio - for example our email provider, accounting software, and any tools we use to deliver a project. These providers process information on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes we tell them to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry emails for as long as they remain useful or until you ask us to delete them. Project files and invoices are kept for at least six years to meet UK accounting and tax requirements. Website logs are typically kept for up to twelve months.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold.
- Object to or restrict our use of your information in certain cases.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've handled your information improperly.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@composition.agency. We'll respond within one month.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including access controls, encryption in transit, and using reputable service providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your information with the care we'd want for our own.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged here for a reasonable period.
